LGA Independent

The Independent Group represents councillors in England and Wales who are Independent, Green or from smaller parties. We provide our members with a voice at the national level and work within the cross-party Local Government Association (LGA) to ensure that the values and interests of our members are represented.

The 2021 local elections saw Independent, Resident Association and Green councillors again win seats from the big parties and make significant gains across the country.

Welcome to all of our new members!

On our website, you can find out more about our peer support, access free resources and events, and sign up for our Be a Councillor, and our Candidate School.

If you are an Independent Councillor or thinking of standing as one, do get in touch - we are the only office supporting Independent and smaller party councillors across England and Wales.

You can find out more about who we are and the support we provide on this website. You can also get in touch with the Group Office by emailing Independent.GroupLGA@local.gov.uk or ringing 020 7664 3200.
