Health and Wellbeing Boards (HWBs) are a statutory forum where political, clinical, professional and community leaders from across the care and health system come together to improve the health and wellbeing of their local population and reduce health inequalities. They have been in place since 2013 and are a single point of continuity in a constantly shifting health and care landscape.
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, we put all our resources into fighting the pandemic and our HWB and elected member support offer was paused. We are developing a refocused offer to support the leadership of place using virtual tools and platforms. The following generic leadership support is available for HWB Chairs and leading members in care, health and wellbeing.
- HWB chairs/co-chairs
- HWB vice chairs
- council leaders
- clinical commissioning groups (CCGs)
- Lead political role/chair in an NHS partnership or Devo arrangement
- portfolio-holders/lead members with responsibility for adult social care
- portfolio-holders/lead members for public health.
